New Speakers Added To MusicTank’s Economics Of Streaming Think Tank

–         Mark Williamson, director of artist services at Spotify, joins panel

–          Also confirmed is Roger La Haye of The Royalty Consultancy

–          Both join singer-songwriter Billy Bragg

18th February 2014, London:–  Spotify’s director of artist services Mark Williamson has joined the panel for MusicTank’s upcoming think tank ‘The Artist Economics Of Streaming’, which includes previously confirmed speaker, independent singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg.

With Spotify having already taken some steps to make its model more transparent through its Spotify Artists website launched last year, Williamson will pick up the conversation around how streaming services provide for artists.

Also added to the panel is Roger La Haye, co-founder of the Royalty Consultancy, who will be sharing some insights on the subject as a specialist in royalties and copyrights, particularly the forensic auditing of royalty income streams to recording artists and songwriters.

The event, which takes places on the 7th April, invites detailed discussion around artist payments from streaming in an attempt to do away with some of the confusion and controversy that has dogged the new format.

In particular, MusicTank will explore whether the industry needs to be more open about how royalties are calculated, and how streaming provides for new artists, if it is to stand the best chance of growth.

Said MusicTank Chairman Keith Harris: “As a new means of consuming music the growth of streaming cannot be overlooked. But with this format comes new revenue models that many artists are struggling to understand, and here we hope MusicTank can provide some insight in discussion with our expert speakers.”
